Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Success also means he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
